The Hiding Place

This encaustic painting features a ladder leaning against a multi-branched tree, providing the perfect hiding spot for a child at play. An original poem surrounds the entire scene: "Hideaway... to be a pirate or a princess... a poet or a castaway... to sail away on the bright blue sky..."

The painting is comprised of multiple layers of clear and pigmented wax resulting in a sculptural, multi-dimensional work with lots of texture. Fine details were added in oil and ink. A custom blend of beeswax and damar resin adds a translucency to give the artwork a glow and depth.

The overall artwork size is 24" x 36", and with the custom frame, the overall dimension is approximately 28.5" x 40.5". The artwork is signed and dated on the back, and is wired and ready for hanging.
